A length of coastline, somewhere in France. No dwellings, no beachcombers in view. Simply the shore, leading its life as a place, much as a living being would. A beach in its natural state, a landscape of luminous, windblown thought. This is a vital site for me – I’ve photographed it over and over, sometimes with a camera, sometimes without. The series brings together three years of seasons, of infinitesimal discoveries, of fleeting geometries. Water, sky, a few objects are projected in these dense, contrasted images – as if superimposed, overflowing, almost, with light and shadow.
